About
Irish-born American Founding Father who represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress. He was one of the men who signed the Constitution of the United States. Later in life, he became a proponent of abolishing the slave trade in the US.
Before Fame
He spent time working as a clerk in a mercantile house. He later started a trading company with his brother.
Trivia
In 1771, he became a founding member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Later in his life after his stint in politics, he founded the Bank of North America and the Insurance Company of North America.
Family Life
He and his family immigrated to America in the the mid-1750s.
