Italian swimmer known for becoming the world champion at the Budapest 2022 World Cup in the 100m backstroke and for representing Italy at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, where he won silver in the 4x100m relay medley and bronze in the 4x100 meter medley. In July of 2023, he won gold at the Fukuoka World Swimming Championships in the 50m butterfly.
Before Fame
He began swimming at the age of eight after his parents signed him up for the sport. He trained at a local pool with several different coaches. He moved to Verona in September of 2017 at the age of 16 to begin training at the Alberto Castagnetti Federal Center. He and his swim team shared the facility with other swimmers from the Italian national team.

He has a YouTube channel where videos of all his events are posted including shots from his first strokes as a rookie to his world record and international victories. He earned the website SwimSwam's "Male Breakout Swimmer Of The Year" award in the year 2022. He is very tall, standing 6'6".

He was born in Thiene, Italy to parents named Gioia and Loris. He has an older brother named Efrem who is also a swimmer.
