Formerly the oldest person alive in the United States at 115 years old, she passed away peacefully in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was born. She became the oldest living person in the U.S. on April 17, 2021.
Before Fame
At the time of her 110th birthday in 2016, she lived in a residential apartment in Omaha and reportedly exercised every morning, did her own laundry, and played bridge several times a week.
Trivia
According to the Gerontology Research Group's Supercentenarian Research and Database Division, as of October of 2021, she was the fifth oldest living person in the world, and the oldest living person ever from Nebraska.
Family Life
She was born Thelma Liesche. Her mother died when she was nine. She married in 1924 at the age of 17 to Bill Sutcliffe. They had no children, and Bill died in 1971.

Two of the four people older than her at the time of her death were fellow supercentenarians Lucile Randon and Kane Tanaka.
