Tessa Parkinson

About

Former Olympic sailor that was a member of the Australian nation team. She primarily competed in the Women's 470 Class event. While competing for Team Australia, she won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. After retiring, she then became a professional sailing coach. 

Before Fame

She first began training for the Olympics in the year 2004. After a brief health scare that caused her to lose nearly 20 percent of her body weight, she then began training for the Olympics again in the year 2007. 

Trivia

Despite winning gold in the 2008 Summer Olympics, she never got another chance to win an Olympic medal. She was just 22 years old at the time. Aside from sailing, she is also a high performance skiff coach.

Family Life

Growing up, she lived with her family in Perth, Australia.
