British Labour politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dulwich and West Norwood from 1992 to 2015. During her time in government she launched an overhaul of the National Lottery and was in charge of London's successful bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Before Fame
She worked as a psychiatric social worker before making the move into electoral politics in the early 1970s.
Trivia
In 2015 she was nominated for life peerage and eventually rose to the rank of Baroness.
Family Life
She married David Mills in March of 1979 and they had a son named Matthew and a daughter named Jess. She suffered a brain hemorrhage brought on by brain cancer in May of 2018 and passed away days later.
Associated With
Her husband served as legal counsel for Italian politician Silvio Berlusconi and was accused along with the former Prime Minister of money laundering and fraud in 2009.
