Olympic swimmer and athlete who primarily competes in the women's breaststroke event. As a member of the South African women's national team, she has raced at the British Commonwealth Games and the South African National Games. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, she was named 'African Female Swimmer of the Year' during the the Swammy Awards.

She first discovered her passion for swimming as a young girl growing up. As a teenager, she was named a member of the South African youth national team. 

Trivia

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she became the first South African ever to win gold medal in the women's 200-metre breaststroke event. In the process, she recorded a 2:18.95 time, which is a world record. She stands five feet, ten inches tall, and weighs just under 140 pounds.
