Before Fame
He became a chartered financial analyst after graduating from college in the year 1996. He worked for several different banks before working for Trustmark National Bank. He was a financial portfolio manager until 2003 when he resigned to run for state treasurer, which kickstarted his political career.
Trivia
When he was elected in 2003 to his first public office, he became the youngest state treasurer in the United States and also the first Republican to hold this office in Mississippi.

he was born and raised in Rankin County, Mississippi. He married Elee Reeves in the year 2001. They have three daughters together named Tyler, Emma, and Maddie.
