American country singer-songwriter who rose to fame for her hit 1982 single "Nobody," which reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, and she was named Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music that year.
