Canadian portrait artist and art teacher known for designing the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that appeared on Canadian coinage from 2003 to 2023 and for being the second Canadian woman to create a monarch's portrait for Canadian currency.

Before Fame

She started drawing when she was three years old. She attended the Banff School of Fine Arts during her teenage years. She then attended the Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting in England. Her first solo exhibition took place in 1966 at the Canadian Art Gallery in Calgary, Alberta. Her portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was chosen to appear on Canadian coins in 2003.

Trivia

She painted a portrait of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh in 1997 which was delivered to Buckingham Palace. She designed the optical illusion room for the Science World Museum in Vancouver in 1988. She is also known for her portraits of other notable figures.
