Olympic swimmer known for being the youngest member of the Canadian team for the 2020 Summer Olympics. She swam a 4:05.13 in the 400-meter freestyle, the fastest time ever by a 14-year-old swimmer worldwide. She has broken over 50 age group national swimming records. She finished in fourth place in the 400-meter freestyle in the 2020 Summer Olympics. At the FINA World Championships in 2022, she won gold in the 200-meter butterfly and 400-meter individual medley and broke the world junior record in both. She was also the first Canadian swimmer ever to win two gold medals at a FINA Worlds. At the Paris 2024 Olympics she won 3 gold medals in the 200-meter individual medley, 200-meter butterfly, and 400-meter individual medley for Canada.

Before Fame

She started swimming competitively at age 8 in 2014. She secured her spot on the 2020 Olympic Team by winning the 200-meter freestyle at the Canadian Olympic Trials, beating Penny Oleksiak. While doing this she lowered her own 13-14 age group national record to 1:56.19. A day later she won the 800-meter freestyle to qualify for her second event at the Tokyo Olympics.

She had made TikTok videos with her sister. She also enjoys water sports such as waterskiing, surfing, wakeboarding, and tubing. 

Family Life

She was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Her parents are Greg McIntosh and former Canadian Olympic team swimmer Jill Horstead. Her older sister Brooke is a competitive pair skater.

She was inspired by Michael Phelps and his focus and determination, and she named one of her cats Mikey after him.
