Best known for his time as the chief strategist of the White House during the Trump administration. He held the position for seven months. Prior to his White House post, he was known for being the chairman and co-founder of Breitbart News. He went back to Breitbart after leaving the White House. At the start of his career, he spent seven years serving in the United States Navy and then took a job with Goldman Sachs. He was arrested in August of 2020 on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. The charges stemmed from his "We Build The Wall" fundraising campaign. Trump pardoned him before his trial date.

He attended Virginia Tech University and graduated in 1976. He studied urban planning. He would also eventually get his master's degree in national security studies from Georgetown University. From there, he went on to Harvard University, where he earned a Master of Business Administration.
Trivia
He was on the board of Cambridge Analytica, the data and consulting company that came under fire in 2018 for privacy violations involving Facebook. He was permanently suspended from Twitter in 2020 for suggesting Anthony Fauci should have his head posted on a spike.

He was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Martin and Virginia Bannon. His father worked in middle management for AT&T, and his mother was a homemaker. His family has been described as being pro-union Democrats.
