Before Fame
He grew up in Hamburg with his father, a restauranteur. He trained as a chef in Michelin star restaurant Andresens Inn in Bargum.
Trivia
He first tried sushi while on vacation in San Diego in 1993, and instantly fell in love. After winning the lottery in 1999, he enrolled in the Sushi Academy in LA, and became the first German to graduate as a professional sushi chef.

He opened his first restaurant in 2001 with his father, Werner Henssler.
