French football referee who has been on the FIFA International Referees List since 2009. In 2019 she became the first woman to referee a major men's European match and a French Ligue 1 match. In 2021 she was the first woman to take charge of a men's World Cup qualifying match. In 2022 she was one of three women selected to officiate the men's World Cup, becoming the first to referee a World Cup match in an all-female referee team.
Before Fame
She has been refereeing since she was 13. At 18, she was refereeing national games. She began refereeing matches at the Championnat National in 2011. In 2015 she referee at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.
Trivia
In May of 2022 she refereed the Coupe de France Final between Nice and Nantes. The record making World Cup match that she refereed on December 1, 2022 was between Costa Rica and Germany. She won the IFFHS World's Best Woman Referee in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Family Life
She grew up in Herblay-sur-Seine. Her father is John Franzese and her mother is Princess Henriette of Schönaich-Carolath. She has three siblings, Scott Duncan, Randa Williams and Dannine Avara.
