Former athlete and first overall pick in the 2020 Major League draft by the Detroit Tigers. Prior to being drafted, he played college baseball at Arizona State University as an infielder. While there, he was named an unanimous All-American.

As a freshman at Arizona State, he hit 25 home runs, which is a program record. The previous ASU freshman home run record holder was Barry Bonds. He stands 6'1" tall and weighs about 220 pounds. On July 18, 2023 at Kansas City, he became the first Tigers player age 23 or younger to have three or more extra-base hits and ten or more total bases in a game since Nick Castellanos on August 19, 2015 at Chicago (NL).
