Before Fame
She began her theatrical career in Luneburg in 1740 and founded her first theatre company the following year. The company dissolved in 1744, and Ackermann took temporary leave of the theatre scene.

Her Ackermann troupe had as its company dramaturge the famous playwright and philosopher Gotthold Ephraim Lessing.

Her first marriage was to a financially troubled musician named Schroder. Later, she met and married Konrad Ackermann with whom she had three daughters.
