Siobhán McKenna

Irish stage and screen actress, entertainer, performer, and artist first initially rose to fame for her role in the George Bernard Shaw play Saint Joan. She is also known for her roles in projects such as Doctor Zhivago, King of Kings, and Of Human Bondage. 

Before Fame

She became a member of an amateur Gaelic theater group when she was a teenager. She made her stage debut at Galway's national Irish language theater in the year 1940. She grew up in Galway and in County Monaghan speaking fluent Irish.

Trivia

In the year 1988, she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. This was two years after her death.    

Family Life

Her father Eoghan McKenna was Professor of Mathematics at University College, Galway. From the year 1956 through 1978, she was married to Denis O'Dea. They had a son named Donnacha O'Dea.

She starred alongside Jeffrey Hunter and Viveca Lindfors in the movie King of Kings.
