She has also appeared in television series such as Camelot and Marcella, as well as award-winning stage performances in Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew. 

Before Fame

She commenced her acting career appearing in stage productions at the famed Abbey Theatre in Dublin. She later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), where she earned widespread recognition and acclaim for her performance as Celia in As You Like It.

She has won numerous Best Actress Awards, including an IFTA Award, an RTS Television Award, and a Critics' Circle Award. She has also been nominated for multiple Olivier Awards for Best Actress, as well as 2 Tony Awards. In 2015, The Irish Times named her as #25 on their list of Ireland's Greatest Film Actors.

Family Life

She is the daughter of actress Maureen Cusack and actor Cyril Cusack. Her brother Pádraig is a theater producer, and her sisters Niamh and Sorcha Cusack are also actresses, as is her half-sister, Catherine. She is the aunt of actor Calam Lynch. She married British actor Jeremy Irons in 1978. They have 2 sons, Samuel James and Max Irons. She is also the mother of Irish parliament member Richard Boyd Barrett.
