Before Fame
He grew up in Cromer, and then moved to Grimston. He graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in history. Prior to joining Blue Peter, to which he'd applied three times, he worked as a runner at Children's BBC and the radio station LBC.
Trivia
Back when he was working on Blue Peter, he went on a mission to learn to sky dive with the RAF Falcons Display Team in San Diego, California. On his fifth time out, his parachute did not open and the two instructors who were with him had to bash it open.
Family Life
He was born in Norwich, Norfolk, to Andrew and Gill Thomas. He has two sisters, Hannah and Rebecca. His first wife Gemma, with whom he had a son, died in 2017, just three days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. He and his second wife Derrina Jebb are expecting another child.
