Before Fame
He began his culinary journey at the age of 16. At the age of 18, he moved to Osaka, Japan, where he attended the Tsuji Culinary Arts School and had the opportunity to work for Michelin Star rated Chef Yasuhiko Sakamoto.

He is the owner of Kōbo pizza and Taku Seattle, an Osaka-style street food restaurant. He beat Bobby Flay in a tempura challenge on the television series Beat Bobby Flay.
