About

Enka singer who is one of the most popular musicians in Japan's history, having sold more than 90 million albums. He is the voice behind many iconic singles, including "Erimo Misaki," "Ōkami Tachi no Tōboe" and "Saraba Seishun no Kageyo." 

Before Fame

His career began to take off after he won a singing competition on Fuji Television Network in 1965. His debut single, "Onna no Tameiki," was released the next year. 

Trivia

He has performed on the competitive New Year's Eve music special Kōhaku Uta Gassen nearly every year of his career since 1968.

Family Life

He was previously married to actress Reiko Ohara and singer Masako Mori. He is the father of rock musicians Takahiro Moriuchi and Hiroki Moriuchi.
