Before Fame

She was a child actress and earned her first major role at only 8 years old, on The Penny Williamson Show - a radio program aired from NBC Studios. Her list of acting credits is extensive and includes roles on The Stu Erwin Show and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, to name a few. At the age of 7, she took up tap dancing. 

Trivia

She began attending college at just 16 years old, and earned her bachelor's degree in English from UCLA. She later graduated from Harvard University Law School as well. She has been a member of the Democratic Party.

Family Life

She was born to mother Lillian, and father Arthur, who was an airplane construction worker.

Associated With

As a founding member of the California Legislative LGBT Caucus, she worked closely with politician Antonio Villaraigosa. She contributed to the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, which was vetoed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger but later passed by Gavin Newsom.
