Professional and elite long-distance runner known for achieving 10 US National Championship titles and for becoming the second-fastest American woman to run the half marathon on January 2022, which set a record at the time. As of 2023, she was also the only athlete in US history to win national titles in both the mile and the marathon.
Before Fame
She had an interest in running and sports from a young age. She ran for Montgomery High School and won four state cross-country titles. She attended Stanford University and in 2003, she finished 3rd at the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship, which led her team to win a title. She began running professionally after graduating in 2005.

She was born Sarah Bei and was raised in Santa Rosa, California. She married U.S. Olympic marathoner Ryan Hall in 2005. They adopted four sisters from Ethiopia in 2015.
