Editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar and former executive fashion director at Vanity Fair, known for being the first person of color to lead Harper's Bazaar in its 154-year history. In September 2024 she was in the headlines for handing out an award to supermodel Naomi Campbell at the Harlem's Fashion Row's Style Awards. Her Instagram, samiranasr, has over 160,000 followers.

Before Fame

In her 20s, she followed her brother to New York to study journalism at New York University after finishing an undergraduate degree in philosophy. She then started working in fashion publishing. She first became a Market Assistant at Vogue Magazine, before going on to work with Grace Coddington for 3 years. Following her love of journalism, she then became a fashion writer for Harpers Bazaar for a few years before quitting her job and going freelance as a fashion stylist. Her first issue as the Style Director for InStyle Magazine came out in March 2012. 

Trivia

In September of 2024, she presented an award to Naomi Campbell at the Harlem's Fashion Row's Style Awards after Vogue editor Anna Wintour refused to present her the award as planned. Wintour mentioned Campbell's habitual tardiness, and Campbell clapped back saying "It wasn't my choice to have the other lady. I'd much rather have this" in reference to Nasr presenting her with the award. She has also been outspoken in her support of Palestine.
