About
American skateboarder who competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as part of the first USA Olympic skateboarding team. In 2014 she became the first African-American female skateboarder to win the Kimberly Diamond Cup Women's Street Championship in South Africa. She placed fifth at the 2016 X Games and second at the X Games Minneapolis 2017, after which she was promoted to pro. She participated in Don't Quit Your Day Job, the first all-female skate film in the US in over a decade.
Before Fame
She started out playing basketball. She began skating at 13, taking after her brothers and cousins. In 2011 she took first in the Supergirl Am Jam 2011 in Venice Beach, CA, after which she became a member of the Hoopla Skateboards team. In 2013 she came fourth at the X Games in Los Angeles. The year after she came tenth at the X Games Austin.
Trivia
She is a goofy footed skateboarder, meaning she leads with her right foot and pushes with her left. At the X Games Minneapolis 2017 she executed a Tre Flip down an eight-stair drop. She went through a depression that stalled her training when her parents divorced.
