Professional tight end who was taken by the Detroit Lions as the 34th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Before his NFL debut, he excelled in a massively successful high school and college football career. His talent and athleticism have been touted in publications such as Sportskeeda, Sports Illustrated, and the Pro Football Network. 

Before Fame

He enjoyed a remarkable high school football career at Highland High School, where he played as a wide receiver and defensive back, caught 50 touchdowns, and had 3,793 receiving yards. He then went on to attend the University of Iowa, where he transitioned to a tight end. 

Trivia

While playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes at the University of Iowa, he earned the title of Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year. He was also named as a First-team All-Big Ten member and ranked 1st among Iowa tight ends in catches and 2nd in yards. 

Family Life

He is the son of Joseph and Staci LaPorta. He has 3 sisters named Olivia, Alex, and Bella all of whom have been involved in athletics as well. Olivia and Bella played volleyball and Alex played collegiate basketball.
