In the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, he won the gold medal in the 200m Individual Medley. He would go on to win the same event gold medal and break his own record at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. On April 14, 2022, he was named to the roster to represent the United States at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships.
