Before Fame

In 1988, however, he landed a part in the drama series London's Burning as Firefighter Kevin Medhurst, the role for which he is best known.
Trivia
After playing a rock star in the film Bring Me the Head of Mavis Davis and a gangster in the film Hard Men, he was afraid of becoming pigeonholed or typecast. It was because of this that he turned down a role in the successful British blockbuster film Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.

He is married to photographer Sarah Jeynes, with whom he has one daughter and two sons.
