Before Fame
He began writing stories when he was very young. He attended Severna Park High School and graduated in 1995. He then studied at Anne Arundel Community College before eventually receiving a degree in English from Towson University in 1999. He worked as an information technology specialist with the U.S. Department of the Interior before his writing career took off.

He is a Bram Stoker Award nominee. He first began writing stories using his full name, Ronald Damien Malfi, but he later dropped his middle name after becoming more successful in publishing his work.
Family Life
He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His father was a Secret Service agent and his mother was a homemaker. He is the eldest of four siblings. He has two daughters with Debra Malfi.
