Former midfielder that played professionally in Germany from 1986 up until 2005. After retiring in 2005, he began his professional coaching career.

He first began his soccer career playing for the Kiersper Soccer Club's youth squad.

While coaching for PSV Eindhoven during the 2021 club season, he won the Johan Cruyff Shield trophy.
