He was also screenwriter for The Giver. He has produced many documentaries about comedians and notable figures, including W.C. Fields, Mort Sahl, Lenny Bruce, Woody Allen and Kurt Vonnegut Jr..
Before Fame
In 1978, he took film production courses at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. There, he worked on producing his first film, The Marx Brothers in a Nutshell, which was later broadcast on PBS in 1982, and became "one of the highest-rated programs in PBS history."
