She was born in Brooklyn, New York, but spent many of her formative years in Haiti. She returned to New York at the age of 15 and after graduating high school received her BA in Music Therapy from Loyola University of New Orleans in 2011.

Family Life
Her mother Michelle Karshan ran a radio station in the 1980s, called "Sak Pase" while her father, Privat Précil was a Haitian who worked in the US as a journalist and lawyer.
