YouTube star who joined the platform in May 2017. He has earned over 500,000 subscribers to his Apostate Prophet channel, where he debates misinformation surrounding the Islamic religion. An activist for free speech and expression, he speaks out about his view of Islam as misogynistic, violent, and repressive. He also released a video on his YouTube channel that has since been deleted; a viral video with over a million views where he destroyed a copy of the Quran in a protest against the policies of the faith.
Before Fame
Born in Germany to devout Sunni Muslim parents, he would later move to Turkey as an adult. Sometime before he immigrated to the US in 2018 is when he renounced Islam. He gained US citizenship in Dec 2021 and tweeted plans to renounce his Turkish citizenship. He is a polyglot that speaks English, Turkish, German, and some Arabic from his studies with the Quran.
Trivia
He now identifies as an Atheist and Humanist. Before YouTube, he began an Instagram account. However, less than a year later he was permanently banned from the platform. He joined Twitter as apostateprophet with 80,000 followers at the same time he joined YouTube. His most popular tweet of 2022 outlined his theory that Mohammad suffered from mental illness which led to the Pakistani government's failed attempt to have his Twitter banished.
Family Life
He is married and has one child. Since renouncing Islam, he has been estranged from both of his parents, tweeting in 2022 that he hasn't spoken to his parents in years.
