Remembered for his acclaimed lyrics and his rhythm guitar work for the Welsh alternative band Manic Street Preachers, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances in February of 1995, and in 2008 was officially presumed to be dead.

Before Fame

After earning a political history degree from the University of Wales, Swansea, he became a driver for Manic Street Preachers and was quickly invited to join the band.

Trivia

His highly poetic lyrics were influenced by the work of poets and philosophers such as, respectively, Arthur Rimbaud and Albert Camus.

Family Life

Born in Blackwood, Caerphilly, Wales, he grew up with a younger sister named Rachel.

Associated With

Edwards disappeared less than a year after American rock vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain (of Nirvana fame) committed suicide. The musicians' tragedies were compared and discussed in an April 8, 1995 issue of Melody Maker magazine.
