King of England from 1377 until 1399. One of the most notable events during his rule was the Peasant Revolt, due to increased taxes because of the costs of the Hundred Years' War. He was overthrown by Henry of Bolingbroke and deposed from the throne in 1399.

He was inspired to run his kingdom by the 13th center writer Giles of Rome, and the methodologies of Roman law.
Family Life
He was born to Edward the Black Prince and Joan, fourth Countess of Kent. He married Anne of Bohemia in 1382, followed by Isabella of Valois in 1396. He did not have any children with either wife.

He is famous largely because of the play by William Shakespeare, titled Richard II.
