About
Best known as the son of seventeenth-century political and military figure Oliver Cromwell, he followed in his father's footsteps by becoming England's Lord Protector in late 1658. An unpopular leader, he was forced out of office the following year.

In the Spring of 1647, he became a barrister at Lincoln's Inn.

He became known among his Royalist opponents by the pejorative nicknames of "Queen Dick" and "Tumbledown Dick."
Family Life
His marriage to noblewoman Dorothy Maijor resulted in five surviving children.
