An American author and psychotherapist, he is known for his classic self-help book, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff (1997). His other works include Slowing Down to the Speed of Life (1997) and Don’t Get Scrooged: How to Thrive in a World Full of Obnoxious, Incompetent, Arrogant and Downright Mean-Spirited People (2006).

Before Fame

He graduated from Pepperdine University and later received his Ph.D. in psychology from Sierra University. He published his debut self-help book, You Can Feel Good Again: Common-Sense Therapy for Releasing Depression and Changing Your Life, in 1994.
