Brazilian samba musician who is known as the The Prince of Pagode. He recorded his first album, "Retrato Cantado de um Amor", in 1968 and became widely known throughout Brazil. He has since released dozens of albums and composed for multiple musicians.
Before Fame
Growing up, he frequently attended Em Cima da Hora, a prestigious local samba school. Through this he created the group O Samba Nosso de Cada Dia. Although he played samba at events and parties, he still worked as a Citibank banker until he quit in 1982.
Trivia
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, but continued touring and performing regardless.
