Though perhaps best known for directing numerous BBC, ITV, and Channel 4 documentaries (including Tory Wives, Identical Twins, and Asylum), she also had a career as a screenwriter and novelist, working on projects such as The Lady (a 2011 film) and Deceptions (a 2010 novel).
Before Fame
A decade after studying at the University of Bristol, she directed a Channel 4 documentary program called The Ghosts of Oxford Street. She published her first novel, One Life, in 2006.

She acted in the 1979 Stephen Frears film One Fine Day.
Family Life
In 1992, she married movie and television producer Andy Harries. They later welcomed twin sons named Jack and Finn Harries (who eventually became known for their wildly popular JacksGap YouTube channel) and a daughter named Emmy.

Her father, Michael Frayn, wrote several award-winning plays, including Copenhagen and Noises Off.
