Celebrated forward and athlete who became a national record goal scorer for Nigeria. He represented his country in the 1994 African Cup of Nations and the 1988 Summer Olympics. He played for Shooting Stars, Africa Sports, and Zürich, among other clubs.

Trivia
He scored 37 goals in 62 appearances for Nigeria. He was named African Footballer of the Year for 1993. He was quite tall, standing at 6'3" in his prime.
Family Life
He had three marriages and three daughters. He is of Yoruba descent. Yekini was reported to be ill for an extended period of time. In the year 2011, news media in Nigeria began issuing reports of his failing health, and he was said to suffer from bipolar disorder and some other undisclosed psychiatric condition. He died in Ibadan on May 4, 2012 at the young age of 48.
