Architect of North Melbourne Stadium, the National Institute of the Circus Arts, and the Sydney Football Stadium. His firm handled projects not just in Australia, but also in South-East Asia, China, the Middle East, South Africa, and Europe. Known as a foremost practitioner of the Sydney School of Architecture.
Before Fame
He studied at the University of Sydney from 1957 until 1962, then at the University of New South Wales from 1970 until 1975. He founded his first practice with Ian McKay in 1963, then, in 1967, he founded his own Philip Cox and Associates practice.
Trivia
He won numerous awards for his architecture, including the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal.
Family Life
His parents were Ron and May Cox, and he grew up with an older sister, Judith Cox. He married a fellow architect named Louise in April 1972; they had two daughters together, Charlotte and Sophie.
