Scottish soccer layer who tragically died from cardiac arrest during a game for Motherwell in 2007. He was a two-time Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year award-winner, receiving the award in 1992 and 1994.
Before Fame
He was born in North Lanarkshire and made his professional debut with Motherwell in 1990.
Trivia
Following his death, the Main Stand at Fir Park was renamed The Phil O'Donnell Stand. A stainless steel monument was also erected in his honor in November 2011.
Family Life
He was survived by his wife, Eileen, and four children.
Associated With
His nephew, David Clarkson, also played for Motherwell and was the first player to don to #10 jersey that O'Donnell famously wore.
