Actor best known as the star of the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia. He also appeared in How to Steal A Million Dollars opposite Audrey Hepburn, and he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the 1969 film Goodbye, Mr. Chips.

He attended Royal Academy of Dramatic Art with fellow actors, Albert Finney, Alan Bates and Brian Bedford.
Trivia
He was nominated for eight Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role, but failed to win any of them. He was eventually given the Academy Honorary Award in 2003 for his entire collection of works.
Family Life
He married actress Sian Phillips in 1959, and the couple had two daughters before divorcing in 1979.
