Mother who was convicted of first-degree murder for torturing and killing her 8 year-old son, after months of horrific abuse. She was aided by her boyfriend, Isauro Aguirre. Her son was killed in 2013 and her conviction came five years later. She was given life in prison without the possibility of parole. Aguirre was sentenced to death. She has been diagnosed with developmental disabilities and multiple psychiatric conditions.

Trivia
Although she was investigated numerous times by Los Angeles County, her son was never removed from her care. Four social workers later faced criminal charges for not taking the necessary actions to assist the child. After being administered a series of tests, it was determined that she has the verbal comprehension of a 7 year-old child. In April of 2021, she attempted to have her murder conviction vacated for the purpose of re-sentencing, but the judge denied her request.
Family Life
She was born to Robert and Sandra Fernandez. Her father was in and out of prison and her mother was physically abusive. She became addicted to drugs at the age of 9. By 11, she had run away from home and would drop out of school by the age of 13. She has three other children besides the son that she murdered. She was allegedly back on drugs in the months prior to her son's murder.
