Soulful diva who gained national attention for her unforgettable, pneumonia-battling audition for The X Factor USA in 2012 when she performed Sam Cooke's "Bring It on Home to Me." She is a worship leader and the children’s choir director for the Victory Outreach Church of Dallas.

Before Fame

She was already battling several addictions as a 13 year old, but she has been free of all her addictions since January 25, 1997.

Trivia

After The X Factor, she lost more than 100 pounds and furthered her vocal training to sing in church and other venues across the U.S.

Family Life

She was born in prison in Huntsville, Texas and raised in Hobbs, New Mexico by her grandmother. Her daughter Darlinda graduated with honors from Dallas Baptist University's law school while her son Darryl had the honor of playing drums at the Super Bowl with the Black Eyed Peas.
