Cuban singer and guitarist popularly known as "Pablito," famously celebrated as one of the pioneers of the Cuban nueva trova movement, which began in the late 1960s. His musical anthems and influence made him a national symbol of both Cuba and the 1959 revolution. He recorded nearly 60 albums throughout his career and became best known for songs like "Para Vivir" and "Yolanda."

He attended the Conservatorio Municipal de La Habana, which is widely considered to be one of the best musical institutions in Cuba. He made his public debut in the year 1956.
Trivia
He organized the Varadero International Music Festival to bring famed Latin American musicians to Cuba. Some of his most famed albums included those in which he would perform the poems of writers like Nicolás Guillén and José Martí as songs.
Family Life
He was married 5 times throughout the course of his life, resulting in a total of 9 children, including singer Haydée Milanés. He passed away on November 22, 2022, at the age of 79.
