Music producer, sound engineer, and pioneer of the Nuovo Sound musical genre which spans across multiple cultures and musical styles. He has acted as the producer, beat-maker, sound engineer, and track mixer of the musical duo known as Dark Light, along with its singer and lyricist M-Angel. As part of the collective, he has released acclaimed tracks including "Dreams Come True," "Vengeful," and "Still Winter." Since the year 2016, he has also hosted the internationally popular YouTube channel MusicGameNews, where 1.1 million subscribers have viewed his review and reaction videos over 353 million times.

Before Fame

His interest in music and rhythm sprouted at a very young age. While attending the University of Montreal, he was introduced to beat-making software by the brother of his future Dark Light bandmate, M-Angel. He and M-Angel founded their duo in 2008, under the name Freedom of Speech, before changing its name to Dark Light the following year.

Trivia

He spent over 2 years working on the Dark Light album "Loin de Toi," which was released in 2015. The 15-song studio album features a fusion of multiple different musical genres blended together to depict the story of two people loving one another from afar.

Family Life

His real name is Abderrahmane Tebbal. He chose the stage name "Ovela" when he was just a teen, as the nickname had been given to him by a beloved cousin.

Associated With

He has been affiliated with the Montreal-based boutique music label Ray-On Music Services, which has also represented performers such as Janina Fialkowska and Louis Lortie. In his 2015 interview with CityNet Magazine, he expressed that Skrillex, Cris Cab, and Gramatik were among some of his favorite musical artists.
