She was an avid sports player growing up, as well as a jazz pianist. At 10 years old, she was old she was going to lose the ability to walk and turned her attention to becoming a Paralympian. Fortunately after two hip operations and a misdiagnosis, her loss of ability to walk never came to fruition.
