Painter, sculptor, and architect whose best-known work was his oil painting "View of Luxembourg from the Fetschenhof" from 1870. He was also known for his collection of lithographs "Voyage pittoresque à travers le Grand Duché de Luxembourg" from 1834.
Before Fame
He was a student at the Ecole de Dessin where he was taught by the famed Jean-Baptiste Fresez and won the silver medal in 1827.
Trivia
He worked as a porcelain painter at a Luxembourg City pottery factory, and he also created many popular lithographs.
Family Life
He was born in France to a cobbler father and a Luxembourg-native mother. The family moved to Luxembourg when Liez was a young child. He fathered four children.
