His albums included Each Time You Break My Heart, Whatever, Us, Nick Kamen, and Loving You Whenever. He died at the age of 59 after suffering a battle with bone marrow cancer.

He gained fame for appearing in a 1985 Launderette television commercial for Levi's Jeans, which was founded by Levi Strauss. The ad was named one of the 100 Greatest TV Ads in 2000.
