A Pakistani-Canadian writer, translator, and essayist, he was shortlisted for Asia’s most prestigious literary prize in 2012. His novels include Between Clay and Dust; The Story of a Widow; Rabbit Rap; and Salar Jang's Passion.

He studied at St. Bonaventure’s High School and later attended the NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Pakistan.
